During this lecture we were introduced to the next topic of Public Opinion. We all came up with a pretty good definition for the concept: A big group of people that holds a common point of view, or a mayority that thinks alike.
Going a little further, we can assume that public opinion is a quite new concept. We could actually ask ourselves the next question: Since when does it matter what people thik?
I must admit that I had never asked myself this question and I was defenitely surprised with the answer I obtained. The truth is that it is linked to the modern democrazy and society, where people have some sort of power (obviously in a society with slaves does not matter whta the people think).
With the French Revolution and the American War of Independece the people started to matter. The rise of public opinion in the 20th century with the first mass medium was the radio. Due to it, an advertising boom took place and consequently, the first market research too.
